Joyce Clark Elzinga passed away on Wednesday Sept 12, 2012 in Ogden. Our angel mother, loved by all her family, friends, neighbors and all who knew her. She was born Mar 21, 1917 to Alma Porter and Lavinia Card Clark in Afton, Wy. She graduated from Star Valley High School. She met Charles Elzinga of Salt Lake City and they married June 28, 1937 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She attended business school.
She is the mother of 14 children; 76 grandchildren; 116 great-grand children and 16 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; sweetheart Charles; brothers, Dean, Paul; sister, Barbara Bassett; son, Alma; and daughter, Terry Ann Baker.
Mom and Dad fulfilled a mission to England from Aug 1988 to Mar 1990. She served faithfully in many callings in the Relief Society and Primary for the LDS church, receiving the Silver Fawn Award for over 20 years service in the Cub Scouts. She was well known for her quilting, unselfish service, bread-making, gardening and missionary spirit.
Surviving are 12 children, Marsha, Charles D., Susan, Carla, Brent, Elona Joy, Rose, Nona, Howard, Coralee, Blair and Wendy.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Sep 15, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the Brigham City 23rd Ward, 620 North 300 East, with viewing from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.
The family will greet friends on Friday from 6 - 8 p.m. at the Gillies Funeral Chapel, 634 East 200 South, Brigham City, UT. Interment will be in the Brigham City Cemetery.
