Dean Calvin Clark 75. died May 9, 2002, at his home in Afton. Funeral services were held May 13 at the Afton Stake Tabernacle. Burial was at the Afton Cemetery.
Dean was born Oct 23, 1926, in Auburn, son of Alma Porter and Lavinia Card Clark. He grew up on a large dairy farm where he had his siblings milked many cows and performed the countless other ranch tasks before and after school.
He attended Star Valley High School. As he enjoyed both sports and music, he wa on the football team and played in the marching band. He enlisted in the Army when he turned 18 and was inducted the second semester of his senior year. He joined the paratroopers and after the war he was in the occupation forces serving in Germany. After his discharge, he attended the University of Wyoming.
He married Yvonne Gardner in the Salt Lake Temple. He worked on the Clark ranch then at the Gardner Brother's Milling Company which he ran for many years. He was also in the construction business.
In the last few years he had returned to ranching.
Dean was an active member of the LDS Church and served in various positions including elder's quorum presidencies, stake and ward young men's presidencies, ward activity chairman, high priest quorum teacher, ward chorister, choir member. He especially enjoyed doing temple work. With his wife Yvonne he filled an LDS mission in Detroit, MI.
Dean loved all sports and games of skill, especially baseball. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, water and snow skiing. To him all nature was a marvelous wonder to be enjoyed. He also loved to sing. He was happiest when enjoying life with his family. They will miss him greatly.
He is survived by his wife Yvonne, their children Diane Husein of Fresno, CA, Jan Dean of Bozeman MT, Randal of Laramie, Jeffrey of Etna, Steve of Afton, Jeremy of Flagstaff AZ, and 25 grandchildren and great grandchildren, sisters Joyce Elzinga of Logan UT, Wanda Limb of Meridian ID, Myrna Dutson of Emmett ID, Geraldine Johnson of Cottonwood AZ; brothers Alma Card of Burley ID and Paul of Lovell, WY.
