The Joplin Globe, August 20, 1927:

FORMER CARTHAGE BUSINESS MAN DIES

W. W. Baily, 57 years old, a former well-known Carthage business man, died at 4 o'clock yesterday afternoon at St. John's hospital, where he had been a patient six weeks. Prior to coming to the hospital here he was in the flour milling business in Oswego, Kan. Death was caused by cancer.

Mr. Baily lived in Carthage most of his life. His wife, formerly Miss Hester Ornduff, died at the hospital here last October 9. He formerly was manager of the Carthage Superior Spring Bed and Manufacturing Company at Carthage and prior to his association with that company was connected with the Leggett & Platt Spring Bed Company here.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Helen Baily Rush of Joplin and Mrs. Mary Margaret Strohm of Rochester, N.Y.

Funeral services will be held at 10 p'clock Monday morning at the Knell chapel in Carthage. Burial will be in Park cemetery.
