Bio of Dr. Dea Pliney "DP" Long
When Dr. Dea Pliney Long was born on February 13, 1875, in Hillsboro, Texas, his father, Richard Lewis Long, was 22 and his mother, Nancy Jane "Jennie" Terrell, was 15. In 1880, DP was 5 years old and lived in Hill, Texas with his father, mother, and brother. In 1900, Dea P. Long was 24 years old and lived in Wichita Falls, Texas. He married Jennie Maybell Hopper in 1896 in Oklahoma. They had nine children during their marriage. In 1910, D.P. Long was 34 years old and lived in Oakes, Oklahoma with his wife, Jennie, 2 sons, and 2 daughters. On Sept. 12, 1915, DP Long was living in Cimarron, Oklahoma, when he registered for the World War I draft. He ended up becoming a veteran of the Spanish-American War. Went to Med. School in KY and became a general practice physician. He even delivered his grandson R.L. Long. In 1920, Dea P. Long was 44 years old and lived in Willow Bar, Oklahoma with his wife, 5 sons, and daughter. In 1930, D.P. Long was 55 years old and lived in Calhoun, Texas with his wife, and 3 sons. On April 1, 1940, he was 65 years old and lived in Jackson, Texas with his wife, Jennie, and 2 sons. He died on March 3, 1955, in Harris, Texas, at the age of 80, and was buried in Houston, Texas.
