Garland C. Long

Garland C. Long, 82, of Francitas, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 27th, 2000.
He was born Sept. 5, 1918 in Ardmoor, OK to the late Dea Pliney Long and the late Jennie Maybell (Hopper)Long. He was a retired heavy equipment operator, a veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II, having served in the European Theatre and was a member of the Church of Christ.
Long is preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and a sister.
He is survived by his wife, Annie Mae (Griffith) Long of Francitas who he married on Oct. 7, 1941; a daughter, Terry Ganem of Victoria; three grandchildren, Joseph, Michael and Dana and one great grandchild, Kristia.
The family will receive visitors from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 29.
Graveside services with military honors will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 30 at La Bauve Cemetery in Francitas with Mr. Michael Griffith Officiating. Military honors will be provided under the auspices of V.F.W. Post 34403 in Port Lavaca.
Pallbearers will be Joseph Nedbalek, Michael Nedbalek, Robert Lee Long, Swayne Griffith, Ashley Jalufka and Eugene Griffith.
Memorials may be made to La Bauve Cemetery Association, P.O. Box 113, Francitas, Tx 77961. Arrangements are under the direction of Colonial Funeral Home.

This obit I had found in a box that my mom had. It had to come from the Victoria Advocate or the Edna Herald. Could be both!!
