He passed away from a multiple head injuries from a head on collision in Denison, Texas, USA on U.S. 75 near Fannin Ave., on May 5th, 1982 at 11:30AM. He was a Disabled American Veteran.

Funeral services were held for Dudley G. Long, 77, 10 a.m. today (Monday) at Bay City Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating at the services was the Rev. Sam Kitchings of Sixth Street Church of Christ. Long died May 5th, 1982 in an automobile accident in Denison. Survivors include brothers, John Long of Beautmont and Garland Long of Franciatas, sister, Thelma Rose of San Angelo, several nieces and nephews. Burial followed services at Hawley Cemetery. Pallbears were Melvin Rose, Harvey Daniels, Robert Lee Long, Leslie Long, James Long and R.L. Long. Services under the direction of Dick R. Elkins, Bay City Funeral Home.
