Rufus Newton Cox, was born August 29th, 1876 to Tom and Nannie Cox in Fannin County, Texas and departed this life September 29, 1952 in the Cheyenne hospital of a heart attack. In 1897 he was married to Rebecca Silas of Crystal Falls, Texas. Born to this union were two children, Mrs. Mae Estes of Reydon and Roy Foster Cox of Castlewood, South Dakota. They moved to the Indian Territory in 1899. In 1915 they moved to Roger Mills County and settled near Durham, Oklahoma. They later moved one mile north of Roll, Oklahoma where they resided at the time of his passing.
He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Rebecca Cox, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Foster Cox and Mr. and Mrs. F.M. Estes. Six grandchildren also survive. They are Rufus Estes, Frankie Estes, Rosemarie Estes, Teddy Estes, Mr. and Mrs. Bobby Keller and Bob Michael, Mr. and Mrs. W.E. Burks and Pamela Ann. He also leaves three brothers, Burwell Cox of Newcastle, Texas; Aaron Cox of Houston, Texas, and Bailey Cox of Albuquerque, New Mexico. Two surviving sisters are Mrs. Mamie Ault of Albuquerque, New Mexico and Mrs. Cecil Rathbun of Roundup, Montana. He also leaves a host of nieces and nephews and other relatives.
Interment in the White Rose Cemetery, Reydon, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma.
