Ramona Estenson Sather was born February 16, 1910 in Climax, Minnesota, to Helmer and Clara Estenson. She died August 29, 1998 in Vancouver, Washington.
Ramona attended a country grade school at Sanish, North Dakota, and high school at Plaza, North Dakota. She was raised on a farm and loved to ride horses when she was younger. She played on the girls' basketball team while in high school. She was a graduate of Trinity Hospital School of Nursing in Minot, North Dakota. She married Cameron Hamilton Sather on April 15, 1934. They were married 57 years. Her husband preceded her in death in February, 1991.
Ramona and Cameron lived in North Dakota, Montana, South Dakota, Kentucky and California. They moved to Vancouver, Washington, in 1951. Ramona was employed as a registered nurse at Vancouver Memorial Hospital for many years. She retired at the age of 70. She and her husband enjoyed traveling and seeing family and friends during retirement. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church for 47 years. She enjoyed sewing quilts and attending circle meetings.
Ramona's greatest joy was caring for and loving others.
She is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, DeMar and Patricia Sather of Seattle, Washington, and Grant and Carol Sather of Vancouver, Washington; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; sister, Irene Aubol of New Town, ND; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Ardis and Bud Bartole of Havasu City, Arizona; many nieces and nephews and many friends. Blessed be her memory.
Services will be held Wednesday, September 2, 1998 at 11:00 A.M. with a graveside service at Evergreen Memorial Gardens Cemetery. They will then have a memorial service at Trinity Lutheran Church at 1:00 P.M. Memorial Gardens Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements. (The Columbian, Vancouver, WA)
