Howard L. Boyles, 83, of 524 Vine St., Montoursville, passed away Monday, Aug. 13, 2012, at his residence.

He was born Nov. 16, 1928, in Hillsgrove, a son of Charles and Sadie Howard Boyles.

Howard was a Korean War Army Veteran and retired from Stroehmann's Bakery, where he was a diesel mechanic and garage foreman. He was a member of the National Veterans Atomic Association and Bethel United Methodist Church. Howard enjoyed hunting, country music and polka.

He was predeceased by five brothers, Sidney, Walter, Gordon, Donald and Charles and two sisters, Pearl and Hazel.

Howard is survived by his wife, the former Carmen L. Houser, with whom he celebrated 59 years of marriage with on July 5; two sons, Dennis L. (Joni) and Kenneth L. both of Montoursville; three daughters, Donna L. (Robert) Lynn of Turbotville, Deborah L. (Dan) Glover of Lock Haven and Karen L. (Farrell) Duke of Alabaster, Ala.; a brother, Carl Boyles; seven grandchildren, Michelle, Ashley, Joseph, David, Katy, Samantha and Jordan and two great-grandsons, Joel and Cole.

The funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 17, 2012, at Spitler Funeral Home, 733 Broad St., Montoursville, with Rev. Richard M. Barner officiating. Interment will follow in Hillsgrove Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday evening at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m.
