OBITUARIES

Gertrude Elizabeth Bailey was born to Barto and America Jane Bailey, June 9, 1881, at Byfield, Texas, in Panola County. Still living from this union are three brothers and two sisters; William Bailey, Strong City, Ermin Bailey, Elk City, Ocie Bailey, Strong City, Mrs. Clara Chadwick, Carthage, Texas and Mrs. Nita Howard, Wilcox, Arizona.

Gertrude Bailey was married to Jesse Eugene Fears on November 3, 1901. To this union was born two sons and four daughters. The husband and two sons preceeded(sic) her in death.

Those left are the four daughters, Lavona Caffey, Meade, Kansas; Opal McDonald, Newark, California; Dorothy Park, Redding, California; Bonnie Hawkins, Albuquerque. Eleven living grandchildren; twenty-three great grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.

Mr. and Mrs. Fears moved to Oklahoma in 1907 where they spent most of their lives farming near Hammon. The past 20 months she made her residence in Westview Nursing Home in Buffalo where she departed this life May 3,(sic) 1967.

Note: Gertrude's Harper County Death Certificate shows her death was on May 31st not May 3rd. The short Eulogy written by the family for the the Glenn Crane's book also reported the the date of death as May 31st. SSA shows another death date of May 15th. The Harper County Death Certificate is the date being used for the record of death.
