Rites Held July 20

Funeral rites for W. F. Bailey were conducted Sunday, July 20, at 2:30 p. m. at the Church of Christ, with Tommy Hodge, local minister, officiating.

Pallbearers were Kenneth Bailey, Vernon Bailey, Preston Bailey, Orville Stout, Clarence Peterson and Seward Peterson.

The flower girls were Carolyn Bailey, Darlene Darnell, Barbara Jean Stout and Jenell Peterson; the girls were escorted by Franklin D. Bailey, Ocie Franklin Bailey, Bobby Stout and Don Caffee.

Obituary:

William Francis Bailey was born at Troy, Alabama, December 10, 1861, and died July 17, 1947 at the age of 85 years, 7 months and 7 days. He passed away in the home of his son, Erman C. Bailey.

He came to Panola County, Texas, with his parents at the age of 8 years.

Mr. Bailey was married to America Jane Lake on August 17, 1879. To this union were born seventeen children, seven of whom are living. They are Mrs. Gertrude Fears, Hammon, Okla.; Mrs. Clara Chadwick, Long Branch, Texas; William G. Bailey, Cheyenne, Okla.; Erman C. Hailey, Mrs. Ola Stout, Hammon, Okla.; Mrs. Neta Howard, Safford, Ariz.; and Ocie E. Bailey, Strong City, Okla.

Mrs. Bailey preceded him in death in 1925 at the age of 60 years.

Other survivors are thirty-two grandchildren, forty-two great grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Mary Satterwhite, Center, Texas, 94 years of age, and many other relatives and friends.

Mr. Bailey was united with the First Christian (sic) Church more than fifty years ago.

A dear one from us has gone,
A voice we loved is stilled,
There is a vacant place
Within our home
That never can be filled.
