LUBBOCK-Funeral services for Maria Angelica Hernandez, affectionately known as Angie, 75, of Lubbock will be at 10 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 27, 2012, at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church with Father Brian Wood officiating. Rosary will be at 7 p.m. today, Aug. 26, 2012, at Guajardo Funeral Chapels. Burial will be in Peaceful Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Guajardo Funeral Chapels.

Angie passed away on Thursday, Aug. 23, 2012, at Palliative Care. She was born on April 16, 1937, to Nasario and Seferina Martinez in Del Rio, Texas. Mrs. Hernandez lived in Del Rio and Sudan, where she met and married Roberto Hernandez on June 12, 1960. Their union was blessed for 50 years. Mr. Hernandez passed away on March 19, 2010. Angie began her teaching career in 1976. Mrs. Hernandez had a passion for teaching. She taught at McWhorter Elementary until her retirement.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and her only brother, Nasario Martinez Jr. Those left to cherish Angie's memories are three sons, Leonard Hernandez, Larry (Dora) Hernandez, Leal (Emi) Hernandez; a daughter, Lori (Edward) Perez; and six grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials be made to The American Cancer Society.
