Born January 9, 1922 in Blytheville, Arkansas to William H. and Mary Ruth (Adkinson) Hardesty, he married Novella Hill on May 30, 1942 in East Prairie, Missouri. She died April 23, 2005. He was also preceded in death by his parents; 1 son, Sammy Hardesty; 1 great-granddaughter; 2 brothers, Gerald Hardesty and Robert "Bud" Hardesty; and a sister-in-law, Pauline Hardesty.
Sam worked in maintenance for Caterpillar, Inc. for 32 years, retiring in 1982.
He had served in the United States Army.
Sam enjoyed fishing, more fishing, going to the Par-a-dice, watching St. Louis Cardinals baseball, and spending quality time with his family. He was of the Southern Baptist faith.
