Mrs. Charles Poynter

EAST PRAIRIE - Mrs. Charles (Mary Ruth Hardesty) Poynter of Arnold, 82 years old, died Monday, April 14, 1986, at St. Anthony's Medical Center in St. Louis following an extended illness.

She was born Jan. 2, 1904, at Owensboro, Ky., daughter of the late Samuel B. and Sarah Scifres Adkisson.

On Dec. 12, 1920, she marrie William M. Hardesty, who preceded her in death Aug. 20, 1978. She married Mr. Poynter April 20, 1979, and he survives.

Mrs. Poynter was a member of the Grace Freewill Baptist Church at Arnold.

Surviving, in addition to her husband, are four sons, Sam Hardesty, Perkin, Ill., Robert Hardesty, Indio, Calif., Gerald Hardesty, Arnold, and George Hardesty, Maryland Heights; three brothers, Forrest Adkisson, East Prairie, Bob Adkission, Benton, and L. B. Adkisson, Victorville, Calif.; three sisters, Helen Adkisson, New Madrid, Irene Eubanks, Tulsa, Okla., and Evelyn Ballard, Pomona, Calif.; 20 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.

Friends may call after 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie.

Services will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home, with the Rev. Glenn Rehkop of Arnold, officiating. Burial will be in East Prairie Memorial Park.
