About 1860-61, Thomas J. Barker joined the 32nd Texas Cavalry along with his brother Ruben Benton Barker and a Barker 1st Cousin (I believe was a son of W.O. Barker).
In Feb of 1862 he became a 2nd Corp.
On March 25, 1862 he died in Van Buren, Crawford, Arkansas, but death was not due to hostile action. Age 24 years.
It is unknown where he is exact burial is. We do not know if he was place in a local cemetery, or just buried where they were camped at, in or near, Van Buren, Crawford, Arkansas.
