Barbara Prochaska, 88, Sarasota, died April 20, 1997.

She was born June 12, 1908, in Cleveland and came to Sarasota 20 years ago from Deerfield, Mich. She was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Deerfield.

Survivors include a daughter, Ann M. Hamilton of Sarasota; a son, John V. of Tracy, Calif.; a sister, Ann Leggett of Bradenton; three brothers, Frank Sveska of Kalkaska, Mich., William Sveska of Sarasota and Ladd Svestka of Palmyra, Mich.; and a grandson.

Services and burial will be in Deerfield. Toale Brothers Funeral Home, Colonial Chapel, is in charge.

Memorial donations may be made to the Senior Friendship Centers Inc., 1888 Brother Geenan Way, Sarasota, FL 34236.

Barbara Prochaska, 88, formerly of Deerfield, MI, died Sunday, April 20, 1997 at the Sarasota Health Care Center in Sarasota, FL.

She was born on June 12, 1908 in Cleveland, OH, the daughter of James and Antonia (Rican) Svestka. She was married to John V. Prochaska, who preceded her in death in 1957.

Surviving are her children, John V. Prochaska of Tracy, CA, and Ann M. Hamilton of Sarasota, FL; sister, Ann Leggett of Bradenton, FL; brothers, Frank Svestka of Kalkaska, MI, William Svestka of Sarasota, FL, and Ladd Svestka of Palmyra, MI and grandson, Sean McAnnally of Sarasota, FL.

Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, April 23, at 2 p.m. at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Deerfield, MI with Fr. Randy Miller officiating. Burial will be in St. Alphonsus Cemetery in Deerfield. Visiting hours will be from 12 noon to 2 p.m. Wednesday at the church. Arrangements were made with the Tagsold Funeral Home, Blissfield.
