Adline Hovis Rites Held
Funeral rites were held this afternoon at the Hickory Ridge United Brethren Church for Adline Hovis, 86, who died at 2:45 p.m. Saturday at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Chris Clements, R.R. 6, Bedford, with whom she lived for the past seven years.
Rev. Ray Snow officiated at the services held at 2:30 p.m. under the direction of the Sherwood-Ferguson & Speer Funeral Home and burial was in the adjoining cemetery.
Mrs. Hovis, a native of Jackson county, was born May 29, 1868 to Henry and Mary Martin Hawkins. She was married to Lewis Hovis on Apr. 12, 1885 and he died Apr. 12, 1941.
Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Chris Clements, R.R. 6, Bedford; Mrs Lulie Cottingham, Bedford, Mrs. Myrtle Aynes, Clear Spring, and Mrs. Helen Hartwig, Glendale, Ariz.; two sons, Cecil Hovis, Belleville, Mich., and Emmitt Hovis, Solsberry; 24 grandchildren; 38 great grandchildren; 16 great great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. A son died in infancy.
