Funeral arranged for 1 P.M. Thursday At
Heltonville Methodist Episcopal Church

Samuel A. Hawkins, 85 years old, long a
resident of the Heltonville neighborhood, died at
6:10 a.m. today at the home of his daughter,
Mrs. Elizabeth Cockerham near Medora in Jackson county.
About two years ago the aged man suffered a
fractured hip in an accidental fall and since has been
an invalid.
He was a member of the Heltonville Methodist
Episcopal Church and his funeral has been arranged at
that church for 1 p.m. Thursday with Rev. Elmer C.
Norman, of Bedford and Rev. Carl F. Glick, pastor of
the church, officiating. Burial will be made in the
Gilgal cemetery a mile north of Heltonville.

He is survived, besides Mrs. Cockerham, by four children, Samuel D. Hawkins, Bedford;
Mrs Hallie Bowman, Bedford Rural route 3;
Matthew Hawkins,Champaign, Ill., and
Mrs. Emma Rayl, Pittsburgh, Pa.;
twelve grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren.

It has been verified that there is an unmarked grave
next to that of his wife Mary (Martin) Hawkins

Note: Samuel A. HAWKINS was the only child of
Henry HAWKINS' first marriage to Mary Ann REYNOLDS.
