Abe Brickman was born in Russia, the son of Moses and Clara (Schneider) Brickman. In 1902 he m. Rebecca Corras in Russia; they had 2 daughters and 3 sons. The family came to America in 1911 and came to Waco shortly afterward.
Brickman began working in the Keton Bakery, learning the trade. Within a year and a half, he went into business for himself. His establishment was known as the Home Bakery, and was located on Elm street.
