She was born June 18, 1918, in Gordonville, Mo., daughter of Frank and Mary (Tunze) Newburn.
She married Paul Aldridge June 11, 1954, in Murphysboro, and he preceded her in death March 13, 1977.
She received her bachelor's degree in English from Southeast Missouri State University in 1949, and then earned her master's degree in business education in 1954 at Indiana University in Bloomington, Ind.
She taught in Tamms from 1942 until 1945, Willisville High School 1945 and 1946, Dongola High School from 1946 through 1955 and Shawnee High School from 1955 until retirement May 31, 1984.
She is survived by one brother, Elmer Newburn of Cherokee Village, Ark., and 18 nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; four sisters; and three brothers.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2005, in the chapel of Hileman Funeral Home, with the Rev. John Cripps officiating. Interment will be in Walker Hill Cemetery in Grand Tower. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.
