Cape Girardeau - August Newburn, 91, of Cape Girardeau, died Tuesday, April 23, 1991, at Deal Nursing Home in Jackson. He was born March 6, 1900 at Blomeyer to Frank and Mary Tunze Newburn. On June 18, 1927, he married Alma Bock. She preceded him on April 10, 1977.

Survivors include one brother, Elmer Newburn, of Cherokee Village, AR; four sisters, Mabel Ulrich of Gordonville, Frona Switzer of Jackson, Minnie Cleveton of Portland, OR, and Augusta Aldridge of Wolf Lake, IL; one foster daughter, Kathleen Gatewood of Memphis, TN and several nieces and newphews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, two brothers and one sister.

He was a member of the First Church of God in Cape Girardeau and a self-employed carpenter.

Friends may call after 4pm Wednesday at Lorberg Memorial Funeral Chapel. Service will be Thursday at 1:30pm with the Revs. E.K. Haseltine and Collie Shirrell officiating. Burial will be in Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.
