Lois never married.
After the death of her parents, Lois managed the Oakley family land in Fayette,Fulton and Campbell counties for thirty-five years. Her father William managed the land after the death of his father James Madison Oakley.
In addition to the land management,Lois was a school teacher. She spent much of her career teaching 5th graders in the Fulton county area. She was a teacher for forty years.
Lois had eight nieces and eight nephews who were very special to her. She apparently was a very dear Aunt.
Lois was one of the family historians. She would often make notes of family activities while on vacation with family members.
