Marie Brooks, 88, died Monday, Dec. 18, 2000, at the North Mississippi Medical Center after a long illness. She was a retired employee of Playcraft in Saltillo, where she worked for 24 years. She was a Baptist. She enjoyed watching old movies and reading.
Services were Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2000, in the Jefferson Street Chapel of W.E. Pegues with Bro. Sammy Lansdell officiating. Burial was in Eggville Cemetery.
Survivors include one sister, Maye Barber of Clinton; one brother, J.W. Benefield of Tupelo; a brother-in-law, Clifton Barber of Tupelo; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Brooks; four sisters, Lois Benefield, Cleatous Benefield, Mittie Lou Raper and Martha Alice Barber; and a brother, J.R. Benefield.
