From the 12 Jan 1922 O'Fallon Progress:

MRS. MALVINA DARROW BURIED SATURDAY
The funeral of Mrs. Malvina Darrow, widow of the late W. A. Darrow, who died at her home in this city last Wednesday evening, was held Saturday afternoon from the family residence to the Baptist church, where services were conducted at 1:30 o'clock. The remains were laid to rest in the Oak Hill cemetery.

Mrs. Malvina Darrow was born in Randolph County, where now is situated the town of Red Bud, September 3, 1838. She was the second eldest of four children born to the wedlock of Wm Simmons and Mary Peach. At an early age, she with the family moved to St. Clair County near O'Fallon, in the Rock Spring neighborhood. On March 3, 1859 she was married to Wm. A. Darrow, who preceded her in death, June 29, 1918. For a short time after marriage they resided with his parents on what is known as the C. B. Darrow farm and then moved to the Simmons home. Here they lived until the summer of 1865 when they bought the home where they lived so many years, removing to O'Fallon in the month of Aug. 1915.

In September 1912 she met with a serious accident which resulted in her becoming an invalid unable to go about only in a wheeled chair. After some years she improved to some extent and could go about with the aid of crutches. She was always patient, never complaining and seemed to enjoy assisting with the housework. She was early converted and joined the Oak Hill Baptist church as one of the charter members, living a faithful, consistent Christian life.

Her last illness overtook her Thanksgiving day and she grew weaker as the days passed despite all efforts to relieve her ailment, and passed to the beyond Wednesday January 4, at 6 p.m., having attained the age of 83 years, 4 months, and 1 day.

The following children are left to cherish her sacred memory: Wm. E. and Lora A. Darrow, O'Fallon; Mrs. Mary Addie Peach, (Richmond Beach), Wash.; Mrs. Fannie Oakland, Chicago; George L. and Joe A. Darrow, St. Louis; also 11 grandchildren and 2 great grand-children also survive.
