"THIRD DEATH IN DARROW FAMILY IN TWO MONTHS
With the passing of George L. Darrow, 86-year-old retired mail carrier, death claimed three members of a well-known O'Fallon family in less than two months.
Mr. Darrow died at 5:15 o'clock last Thursday afternoon at the Osteopathic Hospital in Normandy, Mo., where he had been a patient since June 18 when he sustained a fracture of the hip at the home of a brother, Joseph Darrow, Eureka, Mo.
The deceased lived at 223 North Cherry Street with his sister, Miss Lora Darrow, who died May 8. Another sister, Mrs. Addie Peach, wife of the late Charles R. Peach, died June 8 at Edmonds, Wash. After the passing of his sister here, Mr. Darrow went to Eureka to visit his only brother when he fell and suffered the hip fracture.
George L. Darrow, a son of the late William and Malvina Simmons Darrow was born in O'Fallon township, July 30, 1862. Both his parents were natives of Illinois. He was employed as a postal carrier in St. Louis for many years. After his retirement from the service in 1927 he returned to O'Fallon to make his home with his sister.
In addition to the brother at Eureka, he is survived by 11 nieces and nephews. Besides his two sisters who died recently two brothers and two other sisters preceded him in death.
The funeral was held Sunday afternoon from the Wolfersberger-Meyer funeral home to the First Baptist church where services were conducted at 3 o'clock by Rev. R. W. Watson. Burial was in Oak Hill cemetery.
Mr. Darrow was a member of the local First Baptist church and O'Fallon Masonic Lodge."
