Roy S. Barton died August 5, 2012.
I was born on Oct. 23, 1924 to Preston and Mae Barton in Provo, Utah. I lived the first few years of my life in Panguitch, Utah and then in Provo.
I served in the U.S. Army in World War II. I graduated from Brigham Young University and the University of Utah Law School. I was very proud of my career as an attorney and practiced law in Salt Lake City until retiring in 1997.
On Dec. 26, 1959, my son Scott was born. Raising my son, sharing our many experiences and watching him grow into a wonderful young man were truly wondrous and happy years.
In 1978, I met my wife Marietta. She was my best friend and my inspiration. She was truly the love of my life. She filled my years with joy and I am sure she added many years to my life.
Upon retiring, Marietta and I moved to St. George during the winter months and lived in Holladay during the summer where we had many friends. I am very grateful for their friendship and love.
I am survived by my wife Marietta; my son Scott, his wife Terri, and their children Stephen, Andrew, Ryan, Peter and Allison; my stepchildren Jaycelyn (Marcel), Sheila, Rory (Marilee), Jerome (Lisa) and their families; my brothers James (Mary) and Keith (Colleen), sister Merle Ramey (David) and numerous nieces and nephews.
It's been a wonderful life when you have a wonderful wife like Marietta, a wonderful son like Scott and wonderful grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, August 10, 2012 at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 East 10600 South in Sandy. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the services. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the American Heart Association or the Humane Society of Utah or the American Cancer Society .
