John Wesley Cooke was born in Chicago, IL to Ernest and Laura Cooke. He went home in peace to be with Jesus surrounded by family at the Ray Hickey Hospice House in Vancouver. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Fran Cooke of Vancouver, WA; Children Shelly McCausland of St. Helens, OR; Bob Cooke of Elyria, OH; Jani Miller of Mt. Juliet, TN; Mike Cooke of St. Helens, OR; and 13 grandchildren.

John graduated from Beaverton High School and Bethesda Bible Institute in Portland. Beginning in 1955 he served as a missionary in Nigeria, Mexico, Guatemala, Papua New Guinea, and the Philippines. In 1973 he settled in Vancouver and took up the trade of piano technician. In 1982 he started his own business, John Cooke Pianos, in which he served greater Portland until his death. He also served at the Chapter President of the Piano Technicians Guild.

He was loved as a generous and godly husband and father. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him. A memorial service will be held at New Hope Foursquare church in Vancouver, on Saturday, February 7, at 10:00 am. Arrangements by Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Vancouver.
