Thomas Bredbury b. 1876-1953 was the son of Joseph Bredbury and Mary Catlow of Stockport, England.

He was born in Stockport, Cheshire, England. His father, Joseph, was a wealthy merchant who lived in England and traveled to India on business. Tom's dad died in India on what was to be his last business trip there. The accountant of his father swindled the family of all of their inheritance and his mother, Mary, was left pennyless. Eventually the family left England and came to the U.S. seeking a new life.

One day as Tom was on his way to the grocery store in Lawrence, MA and he came upon a Salvation Army band. They witnessed to him and he came to the Lord. He went home and told his mother and siblings who also was converted to becoming Christians. It was this family that eventually were the impetus for the founding of the Assemblies of God church in Lawrence, MA in 1942. The church moved to its new place along the Merrimack River in Methuen and has been in existence for more than 70 years.
