LIEUTENANT (1843-?)
Asa F. Lewis e. at age 19 on 10-16-1861. Mustered in
as a sergeant. Elected 3rd Lieutenant on 2-28-1863.
Promoted to 2nd Lieutenant on 5-2-1863. Present
until captured at Falling Waters, MD, on 7-14-1863.
Confined at Point Lookout, MD, 8-17-1863. Transferred
to Johnson's Island, OH, where he arrived 10-23-1863
Released from there on 6-11-1865 after taking the
Oath of Allegiance (NCT X, 21). Asa F. Lewis was
b. ca. 1843, the s. of Asa and Elizabeth Shinn
Lewis (per Douglas Reed Niemeyer).
