SERGEANT (1837-01/20/1863.
William T. Lewis was a carpenter before enlisting
in Yadkin CO at age 24 on 10/16/1861. Mustered in as private, promoted to sergeant on 7-9-1862. Died 1-20-1863 of disease, place and cause not reported (NCT X, 26). William T. Lewis was the s. of Asa and Elizabeth Shinn Lewis, and the brother of Asa F. Lewis, Elias D. Lewis and Levi Branson Lewis.
