"Charles was commissioned Colonel of the 154th Regiment, Pennsylvania Militia at some time in the period 1833-1842."

"Gravestones of Charles and wife Susannah have been removed and stored in a shed." Beegle family history. Col. Charles Frederick Beegle (b 1801)and first wife Susanna Margaret Zimmers were originally buried in the Reformed Church cemetery in Bedford. This cemetery was severely damaged during the first Johnstown flood. Thankfully, some of the stones were gathered, recorded and stored in a shed by the Rev. William Filler Lutz. Later these stones were moved to and planted in the Union church cemetery. Col. Beegle seven children with Susannah Zimmers and five children with Matilda Ditmore. Matilda then married George Stoudnour. She is buried in Bedford Cemetery.

This memorial is a duplicate of Memorial #86698398 due to the unique circumstances of the headstone being moved but perhaps not the actual grave. In this case I feel that both memorials should be documented and maintained due to this.
