He was born on March 23, 1906 in Highland County the son of George and Nellie (Vinsonhaler) Caplinger.
He was a member of the Xenia Church of Christ and the Highland County Senior Citizens. He had retired from the Soldiers and Sailors Orphange Home in Xenia.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Lela Gertrude Caplinger, on Dec. 17, 1985; three brothers and one sister.
He is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, of Hillsboro; one sister, of Holiday, Fla.; three grandchildren, and one great -granddaughter.
Funeral services will be held on Friday at 2 p.m. at the Hope Miller-Thompson Funeral Home in Hillsboro with Rev. Wiley B. Perkins officiating. Burial will follow in the Barnes Cemetery. Friends may call on Thursday evening from 6 till 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made in Mr. Caplinger's memory to the Highland County Society for Children and Adults.
