Sabra Vardeman McKinney was the proven daughter of John Vardeman II and Elizabeth Morgan. John Vardeman died after 1830 and Elizabeth Morgan Vardeman died as "Vardeman" in 1812. (See "John Vardeman II.")

Sabra married Rane McKinney in Lincoln Co., KY, probably at Logan's Station. The signatures on their marriage bond are difficult to read and because of this, have been misinterpreted.

Both of Sabra's parents' names are written on the marriage bond as "John Vardeman" and "Elizabeth Morgan." The two witnesses are Sabra's brother, Morgan Vardeman, and Heagis Logan, a probable relative of Gen. Benjamin Logan of Logan's Station.

Sabra McKinney is said to have been buried with son, Thomas, in Wayne Co., KY, in a currently unknown location for both. There is no such cemetery as "Wayne County Cemetery," as some sources state.
