YAKIMA - Susie E. Uthmann,
92, passed away Friday,
May 10, 2002, in Yakima,
Washington. She was
born August 3, 1909 in Cimarron, Gray,
County, Kansas to
Homer and Leona Russell.
On October 12, 1927, she
married Walter R. Uthmann
in on Nov. 12, 1927 in Iola, Ks.
Walter preceded her in
death in 1980. Her sister, Arlene
Mills, resides in Yakima.
"Grandma Susie" had
four children, Phyllis, Donald,
Marvin, and Richard, 10
grandchildren, 13 greatgrandchildren,
and 2 greatgreat- grandchildren.

Phyllis, Donald, and Marvin preceded
her in death, Richard resides
in Longview, Washington.
She was Grandma Susie
to many others, including 32
foster children. Her house
was a home full of love.
Susie loved to cook and
sew, and was known to many
as the "Quilt Lady." In her
later years, she felt it was
her mission to make quilts
and give them to the needy
to show God's warm love.
The one year she kept track,
she made and gave 32 quilts
to those in need. Her family
benefited as well, because
Christmas was not complete
without a "Grandma quilt"
under the tree.

Although material wealth
never seemed to matter to
her, Grandma Susie was a
wealthy person in the love
she gave and received from
her family and many friends.
A hard worker all her life,
Susie can now rest. She has
"gone to sleep and is awake
in Glory."

A graveside service for
family and friends will be
held 11:00AM Saturday, May
18, 2002 at West Hills Memorial
Park, Wide Hollow
Road, Yakima. In lieu of
flowers, memorial contributions
may be made to Flying H Ranch
70 Flying H Loop,
Naches, Wa,98937.
