Doris Elizabeth Barton (Tison) Semon, born on January 9, 1925, in Sardis, Louisiana died on Wednesday, December 24, 2003, at Rapides Regional Medical Center in Alexandria, following a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. at Southern Funeral Home in Winnfield, LA, on Saturday, December 27. Rev. Michael Hegwood, nephew, officiated. Burial was held at Brown Cemetery in Winnfield.Mrs. Semon was educated at Winnfield High School. She was employed by the Federal Government at Barksdale AFB (La) and Patrick AFB (Fla) until her retirement in 1966. More recently, she was the retired owner of Big Econ Mobile Home Park in Orlando, Florida. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Past Worthy Matron of Sunset Chapter (Shreveport), and the First Baptist Church of Winnfield.Mrs. Semon was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Gertrude Anderson Barton; her infant daughter, Doris Annette Tison; her first husband, S. E. "Shep" Tison; and her second husband, James F. Semon. She is survived by her daughter, Sandi Tison Atkinson (Jerry) of Hewitt TX, stepson Phillip Semon ( Dorothy) of Shreveport LA, granddaughters Genie Brown, Diana Stillwell (James) and grandson Michael Smith all of Orlando FL, and grandson Scott Phillips (Kathleen) of Houston TX.
