Mrs. Jemima Ray, 69 year old resident of Winnfield, Route 1, died last Friday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Henry Ross in Winnfield. She had been ill for a long while.

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 2:30 at Sardis Baptist Church. Dr. W. L. Holcomb, pastor of the First Baptist Church, Winnfield, officiated, assisted by Rev. Waynon Mott, pastor of Lauren Heights Baptist Church, and Rev. E. W. Evans, pastor of the Tannehill Baptist Church. Burial was in the Sardis Cemetery under direction of a local funeral home.

Mrs. Ray was the widow of the late Warren G. Ray. She was a member of the Sardis Church and a lifelong resident of Winn Parish. She was born here on August 2, 1884.

She is survived by two sons, Charlie Ray of Winnfield and Vernon Ray of Jackson, Miss.; two daughters, Mrs. John T. Fannin and Mrs. J. H. Ross, both of Winnfield; 12 grandchildren and five great grandchildren; one brother, C. D. Barton of Winnfield; two sisters, Mrs. Ruby Tidwell of Dry Prong and Mrs. J. S. Collins of Atlanta.

Pallbearers were Billy Ross, Lawrence Ray, both grandsons; Sam Canerday, Clyde Smith, Jr., grandsons-in-law; and Luther Collins and Virgil Barton, nephews.
