Isabel M. Baca, age 72, passed away on October 11, 2000 in Santa Rosa, following an illness.
Isabel was born on November 5, 1927 in Abeytas, NM to the home of Santiago Abeyta and Andrea Sánchez.
Isabel was reared and attended schools in Abeyta and Belén.
Isabel married Herman Baca in 1957 in Belén, NM. They made their home in Santa Rosa in 1962.
Isabel was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, where she served as Eucharistic Minister and Minister of the Cup.
Isabel was actively involved in the 50s Plus Club, she served in the St. Joseph Guild during the time that St. Rose School was opened and she was a member of the Homemakers Extension Club.
Isabel loved taking care of her family and she enjoyed her afternoon and evening walks around Santa Rosa.
Isabel was preceded in death by her parents and an infant daughter, Mary.
Survivors include her husband, Herman of the family home in Santa Rosa, three daughters, Patricia Camell and her husband, Dennis of Louisville, CO, Carmen Baca of Aurora, CO and Yvonne Maestas and her husband, Steve of Peoria, AZ, one son, Herman David Baca and his wife, Anna of Santa Teresa, NM, her grandchildren, Christina, Deanna, Kathryn and Ashley Camell, Joey Flores, Jesse Flores, James Strohmeier, Amanda Strohmeier and Andrea Baca, six sisters, Sister Angelina Abeyta of Albuquerque, Manuelita Sánchez and her husband, Charlie of Mesa, AZ, Gregorita Esquíbel of Albuquerque, Arturo Abeyta of Las Vegas, NM, Angelina Trujillo and her husband, Sesario of Belén, Sister Dolores Abeyta of Grand Rapids, MI and Dolores Durán and her husband, Benji of Lubbock, TX, two brothers, Arturo Abeyta of Las Vegas, NM and Ruben Abeyta and his wife, Pauline of Las Cruces, NM. Also surviving are numerous brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and a host of relatives and friends.
Rosary services will be held on Thursday evening at 7:00 p.m. at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church with Deacon Arsenio Sánchez leading in prayer. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday morning at 10:00 a.m. also at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church with Father Stephen Schultz officiating. Burial will follow at San José Cemetery, Santa Rosa, NM.
