Scoggins Services


Funeral services were held Monday at 3 p.m. from the Seydler-Hill chapel for Mrs. Pearl Scoggings, who died in the Campbell Memorial Hospital in Weatherford Saturday at 3:40 p.m.

The Rev. Richard M. Porche of Center Point, a former minister in Gonzales, conducted the services with burial in Gonzales Memorial Park.

Pallbearers were Jack Bond, Malcolm DeBerry, Lawrence Walshak, Douglas Walshak, John W. Friederick and Erwin C. Malatek.

Mrs. Scoggins was born in Gonzales county on February 13, 1892, the daughter of Elijah Newton and Rebecca Ann McVea Baker. She was a member of the Baptist church and had lived in Gonzales for many years where she operated a boarding house.

Survivors are one daughter, Mrs. Edward (Dana) Schwab of Weatherford; one son William A. (Nook) Scoggins, jr., Gonzales; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Mrs. Barney (Blance) Griffin in 1968 and one sister and three brothers.
