Mrs. Bailey was a member of the First Baptist Church of The Woodlands and a resident of The Forum.
Born in West Texas, Cressie spent a large part of her life in Franklin, Louisiana. Upon retirement, she and her husband, Ashton Bailey, moved to Houston where they were active members of Tallowood Baptist Church. She has been a resident of The Woodlands for the past ten years. Cressie loved to read, looked forward to the almost daily arrival of magazines, and was an avid Rocket fan. A highlight of her life was her association with the teachers and members of her Sunday School class.
Cressie Bailey was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Howard Ashton Bailey; her parents, L.R. and Clara Shores; one brother and five sisters.
Cressie is survived by her beloved sister, Verna Massie form Amarillo, Texas; her town daughters and their spouses, Donna and Mark Johnson of The Woodlands; and Cheri and Ted Velotta of Brownsville, Tennessee.
She is also survived by her four grandchildren and their spouses: David and Theresa Johnson of Magnolia, Texas; Janine and Jamie LaFleur of Lafayette, Louisiana; Jason and Dana Velotta of Brownsville, Tennessee; and Jamie and Brandi Velotta of Huntsville, Alabama; and also eight great-grandsons and two great granddaughters.
A celebration of her going home will be held at Forest Park Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, July 14, 2012. Visitation will be welcomed at 9:00 A.M. with the service following at 10:00 A.M.
Burial will take place at Memorial Oaks Cemetery in Houston, Texas.
