DECATUR - Robert W. Conant, 54, of Decatur died 7:20 p.m. Sunday (Dec. 8, 2002) in Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday in Gospel Chapel Church. There will be no visitation. Burial will be in Fairlawn Cemetery with m ilitary rites by the Macon County Honor Guard. Graceland/ Fairlawn Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Robert was born Dec. 3, 1948, in Decatur, the son of Robert L. Conant and Gladys Leibengood Heil. He was a Navy veteran, serving in the Vietnam War. He was a member of Gospel Chapel Church, Arbor Day Society and Smithsonian Institute.
Surviving are his children, Leslie Strohl and husband George; Angela Talazac and husband Walter; Bryan Kirby; Kathy Botzum, all of Decatur; Kimberly Skundberg and husband Adam of Mount Zion; mother, Gladys Heil of Decatur; brothers, Dennis Heil and wife Debbie; David Heil; Michael Heil and wife Tracy, all of Decatur; sister, Cindy Hunter and husband Mike of Macon; five grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and many dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his father; stepfather, Robert F. Heil and nephew, Matthew Cox
