Elizabeth was born to Jonathan and Margaret Williams in Tennessee.

By 1830 the family had moved to Raccoon Township, Marion Co, Illinois, where Elizabeth married George W. Stribling in 1833, a circuit- riding Methodist minister and farmer.

By 1850 they had at least six children (5 girls & 1 boy), and Mr. Stribling had died. Elizabeth and her brother, Benjamin Williams, and a neighbor, Hamilton Farthing, had to put up a $100 bond for Elizabeth to be guardian for her minor children: Catherine, Mary Ann, Margaret , Sarah, M. Caroline and Bradford Stribling

She married second to John Lydick in 1851 Marion Co. and they had two more children, both boys, John A in 1852 and William F. in 1855. Mr. Lydick died in 1858.

Altho Mr. Lydick was considered wealthy, by the time his estate was settled almost nine years later, the widow received $34, each of the older sons $86.88, the girls got $34.75 and $17.37, nothing for the younger boys.
