Doyle E. Jackson, 78, of Loveland died Oct. 23, 2003, in Hospice Care at McKee Medical Center, Loveland. He was born July 17, 1925, in Kansas, Okla., to William Thomas Jackson and Addie Evelyn Brady Jackson.

He married Joyce Stauffer on Oct. 6, 1946, in Loveland.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II in the South Pacific.

Mr. Jackson was a businessman and civic leader. He moved to Loveland in 1976 from Craig, Colo. He served as mayor of Craig from 1972 to 1976. He served on the city council before and after he was mayor. He was town administrator for the town of Berthoud in the 1980s.

He was a lifetime member of Loveland Elks Lodge No. 1051 and the Associated Veterans of Loveland. He was a longtime member of the Kiwanis Club in Craig and a member of the Moffat County Sheriff’s Posse.

He was a member of First Christian Church since 1955. He loved the outdoors and thoroughly enjoyed the mountains and Colorado. He liked hunting, fishing, camping, snowmobiling, raising horses, traveling and bowling.

He is survived by two sons, Larry D. Jackson and wife Ellen of Loveland and David A. Jackson and wife Barbara of Eagle; a daughter, Cynthia "Cindy" McWhorter of Loveland; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and sisters Murial White and husband Dale of Fritch, Texas, Lucille Galka and husband John of Cheyenne, Wyo., and Betty Rae Burda and husband Edward of Sonora, Calif.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce J. Jackson, on Sept. 22, 2003, in Loveland; brother Dale Jackson; and sisters Juanita Curtis Hunter and Thelma Hipps.

Viewing will be 1-4 p.m. Sunday at the Kibbey-Fishburn Funeral Chapel and 9-10 a.m. Monday at First Christian Church, 2000 N. Lincoln Ave.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday at First Christian Church, with the Rev. Tom Webster officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memory Gardens north of Loveland, with graveside military honors conferred by Associated Veterans of Loveland Honor Guard.

Memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of Larimer County in care of Kibbey-Fishburn Funeral Home.
