Mary O'Donnell Chilton times June 11, 1910

Died at her home in this city, Thursday, June 2, 1910, Mrs. Mary O'Donnell, aged 80 years, 5 months and 8 days. The deceased had been in failing health for about a year but the final attack of sickness occurred early in May, since which time she had kept to her bed, old age and a general break down being the cause of her death.
Mary O'Donnell was born in the county Monahan, Ireland, December 25, 1829, and came to America with her parents when four years of age, settling in Philadelphia. In 1836 they moved to Ohio where they remained until 1845 and where she was married to Hugh O'Donnell. The same year she and her husband moved to Wisconsin settling on a farm in the town of Wayne, Washington County, where her husband died, March 15, 1897. With the aid of her children she operated the farm for two years after the death of her husband, selling it in 1899 and moving to Chilton in November of the same year, where she has since made her home. She was a hard working woman, ambitious to succeed on her children's account. She managed her own affairs and always in a superior manner for a woman of her age, bringing up her large family in a creditable manner and being well to do at the time of her death.
Eleven children survive her, five sons, Dennis of Mason City, Iowa, John and Hugh of Stockbridge, Andrew and Alex of Chilton and six daughters, Mmes. Philip Hall of Chilton, John Monahan of Milwaukee, John McAuliff, Joseph Ruffing, P. F. Gillespie and Alton German of Stockbridge, all of whom were present at the funeral. She is also survived by one brother, Peter Short of Chilton town and three sisters, Elizabeth Wiley, Margaret McHugh of this city and Mrs. Susanna Reynolds of Mason City, Iowa.
The funeral was held from St. Augustine church on Monday and was an unusually large one, relatives and friends from this vicinity and elsewhere being present in large numbers.
