Mrs. Margaret McAuliff passed away at her home in the village Friday evening after a long illness.
Mrs. McAuliff, nee Margaret O'Donnell, was born in Wayne, Washington County in February 1853. She lived there with her parents until grown to womanhood. In 1876 she was married to John McAuliff of Chilton town and they started housekeeping on the old McAuliff home northeast of Brant. In 1891 they moved to the old Robinson home, North Stockbridge.
Four children were born to them, Frank, Hugh, Thomas and one daughter, Hattie, deceased. In December 1913, Mr. and Mrs. McAuliff, their children grown to manhood moved to the village. Mr. McAuliff passed away in March of the following spring. Later Mrs. McAuliff built a little home on North Military street where her son Tom lived with her.
Eight weeks ago she suffered a paralytic stroke since which time she has been confined to her bed for a week previous to her death . She declined rapidly, taking no nourishment and being unable to speak. Her family were all with her at her death. Mrs. McAuliff was one of the early settlers of Stockbridge town and will be remembered by a large circle of friends and acquaintances who regret her passed.
Besides her immediate family, the deceased is survived by four brothers, John, Alex and Andrew O'Donnell of Stockbridge and Dennis of Mason City, Iowa, also four sisters, Mrs. John Monahon of Milwaukee, Mrs. P. F. Gillespie of Oshkosh, Mrs. Alton German of Antigo and Mrs. Joe Ruffing of North Stockbridge.
