Arnold Matzner was born March 7, 1915, at Stickney, South Dakota, to Mr. and Mrs. B. C. Matzner. He attended school in Aurora County where he grew to manhood.

He was a lifelong member of St. Paul lutheran Church and was active in community affairs as a member of the Aurora County School Board, Aurora County Soil Conservation District and was a member of the State Conservation Commission.

On June 24, 1941, he was married to Charlotte Sprick Dethlefsen at Stickney. Born to this union were two daughters, Charlene and Nadine.

He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Charlene (Mrs. Kenneth Titze) of Mitchell, Nadine of Sioux Falls; two stepsons, Melvin Dethlefsen of Stickney and Lowell Dethlefsen of White lake: two stepdaughters, Caryl (Mrs. Fred Assmus) of Stickney and Mary Lou (Mrs. Myron Schmidt) of Sioux Falls; his mother, Mrs. Sophia Matzner of Corsica; two brothers, Gerhard of Charleston, Ill., and Erwin of Stickney; two sisters, Marie (Mrs. Helmuth Assmus) and Adina (Mrs. Melvin Dethlefsen), both of Stickney; 3 grandchildren, 15 step-grandchildren and 3 step-greatgrandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father and one brother.
