Thomas Lee Peterman, 59, of Sedalia, died Wednesday, November 20, 2002, at Bothwell Regional Health Center.
He was born July 23, 1943 in Crawfordsville, Indiana, son of William James and Stella Howe Peterman. On March 28, 1964, in Stanberry, Missouri, he married Marilyn L. McGinley, who survives of the home.
Mr. Peterman was a memeber of First Baptist Church, where he formerly served as chairman of deacons, chairman of the youth committee and chairman of the audio-visual committee. He taught Sunday School at the church and at Four Seasons Living Center. Mr. Peterman was a former member of the Sedalia Masonic Lodge #236 A.F. & A.M. He was an Air Force veteran serving from 1961 until 1965. He worked for the federal government for 42 years in Civil Service, working at both Richards-Gebaur and Whiteman Air Force Bases. He was looking forward to his first granddaughter in January and retirement in May. Mr. Peterman had lived in Sedalia for 23 years.
Survivors include his wife, Marilyn McGinley Peterman of the home; a son, Timothy Lee Peterman of Kansas City; a daughter, Melissa Lynn Bartlett and son-in-law, Eric Bartlett of Kansas City; four brothers, John Peterman and William Peterman, both of Crawfordsville, IN, Robert Peterman of Florida, and Terry Peterman of Montezuma, IN; five sisters, Sue Hartle of Waveland, IN, Marilyn Sherill of Montezuma, IN, Dorthy Berry of Santa Monica, CA, Mary Volk of Highland , IN, and Carolyn Lichtenwalter of Crawfordsville, IN. He was preceded in death by two brothers, James Peterman and Melvin Peterman; and two sisters, Kate Walden and Helen Woods.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, November 22 at the First Baptist Church with Dr. Drew Hill and Dr. Doyle Sager officiating.
Pallbearers were Kip Salmon, Clayton Morris, Ray Murray, Rod Maples, Larry Groom, and Bernie Jones.
Honorary pallbearers were First Baptist Church deacons and wives.
Burial was in Crown Hill Cemetery with full military honors by the Whiteman Air Force Base Honor Guard.
The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Heckart/Gillespie Colonial Chapel.
Memorial contributions were given to the First Baptist Church.
