HIGHLAND, IN

Mary E. Volk, age 68, of Highland, IN, passed away May 4, 2010.
She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Arthur; children: David (Leah) Volk of California, Daniel (Michele) Volk of Crown Point, and Cherri (John) Purdie of New Whiteland, IN; six grandchildren: Joshua, Lindzy, Timothy, Thomas, Joseph, and Sam.
Also surviving is her brother, William Peterman of Indiana; sisters: Marilyn Sheril and Carolyn (Steve) Lichtenwalter, both of Indiana and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and ten brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 7, 2010 at 10:00 AM at Griffith Lutheran Church, 1000 N. Broad St., Griffith, IN with Pastor Andrew Bailey, officiating.
Interment at Mace Cemetery, Mace, IN.
Friends are invited to meet with the family on Thursday, May 6, 2010 from 3:00-8:00 PM at Kuiper Funeral Home, 9039 Kleinman Road ( two blocks south of Ridge Rd.), Highland, IN.
There will also be visitation at the church on Friday morning from 9:00 AM until time of service. Mary was an active member of Griffith Lutheran Church. She was involved with VBS, coordinator of the funeral luncheons, and Ruth and Esther's Circle. Mary enjoyed doing crafts, gardening, and spending time with her grandchildren. Memorial donations may be made to Griffith Lutheran Church.
