KOUTS -- Ernest Ray Lane was born July 8, 1883, at San Pierre, Ind., the son of John and Margaret Lane. He passed away August 8, 1934, in Michael Reese hospital, Chicago, at the age of fifty-one years and one month. He leaves to mourn his loss, his widow, one son William, and three grandchildren of Michigan City. He also leaves a sister, Mrs. C. A. Borders of Logansport, Ind., and two brothers, John M. Lane of Chicago and George O. Lane of Kouts. A brother, Charles H. Lane preceded him in death last March. Memorial services were held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock in Kouts, with Rev. Armstrong officiating. Burial was in Graceland cemetery, west of Kouts. Those attending from out-of-town were: Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Borders, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Lane, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Borders, Lee Lane, all of Logansport; Mr. and Mrs. William Lane, Mr. and Mrs. Adam Black, of MIchigan City; Mrs. Jack Bucher, Vaughn Lane, of Valparaiso. Friends will remember Mr. Lane as he spent a number of years in Kouts.
