Mamie lived in Pinewood and took "Father Brown" in after Uncle Pete died and took "P. C." out of school for a year to help because "Father Brown" was totally invalid from a stroke. It was fondly remembered by my mother, Mildred Brown Shaw that "Aunt Mamie had her faith in God, the railroad, and the United States government!" Another family chuckle-type joke passed down was that Aunt Mamie was overheard talking with Aunt Lola Brown Cantey about Mamie's grandson, Bubba Sydnor, drafted into military: "They ought not take him in because he's not used to getting up early...he won't get up." Aunt Lola, "Oh, Mamie, he'll get up!"

Aunt Mamie & Uncle Pete had one set of twins: A. S. & P. M. Matthews. A family phot with Mamie in it is HERE.
