Marie was a homemaker. She and her husband were co-owners of the Smith Garage in Hardin, Calhoun County for many years.
Marie was a member of St. Norbert's Catholic Church in Hardin, and she was a member of the church's Altar Society. She played the organ at St. Nobert's for many years at Sunday Masses and funeral Masses.
Marie died 9 days after her 97th birthday at Calhoun Nursing and Rehab in Hardin. She was survived by 1 daughter; 4 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Marie was preceded in death by her husband, George, who passed away in 2003 at the age of 100. She was also preceded in death by 2 brothers, John Baumann, and Carl, who died in infancy; 4 sisters, Rose Rawe, Sister Mary Gabriel, Edna Baumann and Bernadette Baumann; and 1 son-in-law, Bob Patton.
No services or visitation were held. At her request, Marie's body was donated to St. Louis University of Medical Science.
The family requested that memorials, if desired, be made to St. Norbert's Catholic Church in Hardin.
